Today is the seven-year anniversary of the A Lady in London blog! It's hard to believe I wrote my first post so long ago, but it's great to look back on how far things have come.

7-Year Blogging Anniversary

But blogging has come a long way since then, and I love that every year brings more and more opportunities.

A Lady in London has taken me all over the world in the last seven years, and has pushed me to explore London beyond my local neighborhood.

It has opened doors to places and people that I never would have met, and allowed me to pursue passions that I thought would always be relegated to the hobby corner of my life.

Professional blogging has its ups and downs—I wish I could say that it's all as glamorous as it sounds—but after a less-than-thrilling early career in banking, I will never take for granted the fact that I wake up every morning to do something I love (and fall asleep at night without asking myself “What if I'm still doing this when I'm 40?”).

I may not have had a vacation in seven years, but I've managed to make vacation my career. I can't complain.

Now that I'm considered ancient from a blogging perspective, I enjoy meeting other bloggers that are just starting out.

It's great to see so many people creating spaces to share thoughts, ideas, and experiences with others, and I love their fresh perspective and enthusiasm.

While many new bloggers fear that it's hard to make a name for themselves with so many blogs out there, there's always room for those that stand out with exceptional content, creative ideas, and a willingness to work hard.

If you're just starting a blog or considering starting one (or any other entrepreneurial endeavor), I encourage you to go for it. I'm living proof that you can live your dream, and a career doesn't get better than that.

Wow, seven years! That's really impressive. Congratulations! With a blog that's just over 1 year old, being able to work on my blog fulltime is still a dream, but who knows…maybe someday. At least it's very inspiring to see what you've accomplished. And I'm glad we've met through blogging :-).

Thanks Jacintha! I hope you're able to make the transition to full-time blogging at some point. I'm glad we've met through our blogs, too!

Awesome, happy blogversary!!

Thanks Jo!

Inspiring words! And happy 7th birthday!
xx,
E.

Thanks E!

Congratulations, 7 years is quite an accomplishment! Thanks for your words of encouragement for those of us just starting out!

Thanks lady, for your encouraging words! Yesterday, I also celebrated TWO years anniversary of my blog – 14th Aug.

That's great! I hope the next two (and beyond) are as successful!

Happy Blog Birthday!

Seven Year Anniversary Gift

It's great to be able to do something you love for a job – who knows what the future holds for blogging it'll be exciting to see.

Thanks! Yeah, it will be great to see where blogging goes in the future.

Happy 7th birthday! I never thought of blogging as a career, mine is just my hobby and sharing stories, but like you said, you never know what opportunities await. I think you really have to love your blog and blogging to make it a successful career or you'll get burnt out really quickly. I've seen blogs rise to fame and sizzle out. Here's to many more years of lady in london! as long as you enjoy it *cheers*

Thanks Dannielle! You make a really good point. It's important to be passionate about it if you don't want to burn out.

Congratulations!
I have to say that you really inspired me to create my own blog. I'm still preparing its content and hopefully it will be out very soon 🙂
I wish your blog continues to make success!

Thanks Juliana! I'm so glad I inspired you! I look forward to seeing your blog when it's live!

Happy blogging birthday! Seven years is quite an impressive milestone, as far as blogs go, and it's impressive what you've been able to accomplish in that time!

Thanks! I'm glad you found encouragement in it!

Huge, huge congrats on your 7 year blogiversary Lady in London! There are soooo many that yearn and desire to have achieved what you have. Many, many pats on the back to yourself and keep doing what you are doing. Because I'm thrilled I found your blog, our new friend 🙂

Thanks Mike! I'm glad I found your blog, too!

Congratulations! I completely appreciate the ‘not having a vacation' feeling, but also know that every day can be somewhat of a bit of a holiday if you're doing what you love. The blogging wheels in our heads never cease to stop turning!

Congratulations – love your blog and the adventures you have with it – I've been writing for 6 months now and loved it so far, but take comfort from your encouragement to persevere. Hope you can have a day off to celebrate 7 years x

Thanks! I hope the next 6 months go well for you!

What a huge achievement Julie – congratulations!! I've been reading your blog from even before I was blogging and it's inspiring to see how you've made such a huge success of it. My blog is very much my hobby as I enjoy my career a lot too but I do find it really reassuring to hear your encouragement to new bloggers because, as you were saying, I do often find myself feeling like a small fish in a huge ocean so it's reassuring to hear you say that it's worth just cotinuing to work hard and stick at it 🙂

Thanks Shikha! I'm glad you found it encouraging!

Yea! Congrats Julie! So proud of you and all the amazing work you've done on this fantastic blog! Now write a book about it!!!

Thanks Pam!

Congratulations, Julie!

I love your blog and always look forward to seeing what part of the world you're in today! Both the blog and its creator are incredibly inspiring. It's great that you've been able to make a career from it – but DO have a proper vacation soon (and not just because I'm fascinated to know exactly where you'd go & what you'd do to ‘switch off'!)

Thanks Dom! Sometimes I wonder where I would go if I ever went on a proper vacation…

Congrats! I´ve discovered your blog just minutes ago but I already made myself a huge pot of tea and will spend my afternoon here on your blog!

Thanks Urusula! I just took a look at your blog, too. Lovely photos!

Wow! This is ancient in blogosphere terms 🙂 Congratulations and well done!

Congratulations! Lx

Many congratulations & a glass of wine on your behalf 🙂 True Inspiration !!

Thanks Abhishek!

Congrats! I'm just getting started and hope I can (maybe? possibly?) turn blogging into something other than just a hobby.

Thanks! I hope you can, too!
