Welcome to planDisney! Congratulations on your new bundle of joy. I’ll let you in on a little secret; I’m also expecting, so this question is “practically perfect” for me to help with. Walt Disney World Resort is such a special place and, in my humble opinion, one of the best places to announce whether you will have a little Minnie or Mickey this September.
One extraordinary way to do a gender reveal is by booking a Capture Your Moment session. These short and sweet photo sessions give you 20 dedicated minutes one-n-one with a Disney PhotoPass Photographer at one of the four Theme Parks. My partner and I did our maternity announcement photos at Magic Kingdom through Capture Your Moment, and the photos turned out incredible. They were so special and a great way to tell our family and friends that a little Mouseketeer was on the way really soon. The best part about Capture Your Moment is that you can bring props (as long as they comply with Walt Disney World’s property rules)! It would be super cute to buy a pink and blue Mickey balloon (or a Mickey hat and Minnie ears) and use that as your props. Before your photoshoot begins, tell your photographer that it is a gender reveal, hand them the result on a slip of paper, and ask them to reveal the gender to you and your partner using your props! That would be amazing to have them surprise you and capture it on film for your family and friends back home. Capture Your Moment photoshoots tend to book fast. If you are interested in doing one, I highly recommend doing so when your 60-day booking window opens in July (especially if you want to take photos at Magic Kingdom). One last note on this, to share the images with your friends and family, you will need to purchase Memory Maker. We bought a one-day Memory Maker package when we did Capture Your Moment and could download all of the photos. My mother (the true creative one) made copies of the pictures and put them in a keepsake album for my little Mouseketeer to have.
If you are thinking of a more traditional party for your gender reveal, Walt Disney World Resort offers Guests the opportunity to plan the soiree of their dreams and budget. I personally have not utilized Disney Meetings and Events for this before, but I have seen their work, and it is always exquisite. If this is more what you were looking for in terms of a reveal, I highly recommend reaching out to them soon to start the planning process in September.
