Funny Wishes

Use these with people who have a good sense of humor. One way to make these work well is to add something personal or meaningful after writing the funny part.

• It takes a four letter word to describe a newborn baby. CUTE!

• Babies suck. It is a scientifically proven fact. In fact, they usually suck until they start eating solid foods. Good luck with your baby who is going to suck.

• Let's hope your new baby takes after his mom's looks right? Well, actually, let's hope the little guy takes after her for everything. Congratulations!

• Just think of all the cool things that are coming in the future. The first tattoo, first date, first day of school, first words, and first steps are all ahead of you. Well… hopefully not in that order though.

• You don’t have to take a test to prove that you can be a parent because babies don’t have to take a test to prove that they will be a handful. Good luck learning everything you need to learn at just the right moments.

• Congratulations on the success of your little baby maker.

• There’s no question now that you are extremely creative. Congratulations on your new little development!

• It would be nice to be able to interview your own unborn baby before accepting him/her for the position as your child as if he/she was applying for a job. • I bet your baby will come out laughing if he/she gets your sense of humor.

New Born Messages Wishes

• I would like to ask that you name your baby after me. I don't mean for you to give the baby my name. I mean, you should name the baby, "After Me."

• They say half of all pregnancies are unplanned. Here's to better planning next time.

You May Experience Strong Feelings of Uncertainty Followed by Strong Feelings of Wonder and Amazement At Your Child’s Birth

Suggestions for Writing Congratulations for a Baby

• Add a favorite quote, verse, or poem. This takes a little pressure off of you to write a great message all on your own.

• Share the card with others and get some help writing your message.

• Keep your baby wishes light, funny, and positive to be on the safe side. Keep the receiver in mind when you write your baby shower card message, and try to think about what that person will like best.

• Only give advice if you think it is really necessary to write the advice in the card. The purpose of the card is to say congratulations. You'll have plenty of time to teach the new parents about all your experience and wisdom.

• Add a gift card, money, or offer to help in some specific way. A specific thing to offer would be to bring by a meal after the baby is born. This would also allow you to come see the baby soon.

• Write the message from a different perspective. You could write the message to the baby or as the baby. This could be done well if it is well written, but it could also seem tacky. Only try this if you are skilled at using tact and humor in your writing.
