Earlier this spring a couple of my friends lost their mother, who also was a friend of mine, to cancer.
She’d beaten it once but it returned with a vengeance, and by the time it was caught, the prognosis was grim. She passed away in March after a brave fight.
I know this Mother’s Day will be hard for those sisters, whose mom was such a light to the people around her, including me.
To those dear ladies and others who are missing their mothers today: My heart goes out to you.

Being a mom has taught me so much about love and beauty and sacrifice.
